Woodson’s Mill

We visited Woodson’s Mill in Nelson County, Virginia during their Historic Garden Week.  The mill is open for visitors most of the time, but doesn’t grind on a regular schedule.  During this event, however, they promised to be grinding.

I did find out that all grits are not created equal.  Hominy grits are made from hominy.  Regular grits are simply a different grind of corn.  The corn is ground, then separated into the finer corn meal, or the coarser grits.
