Appomattox Court House National Park

We took a day trip to Appomattox Court House, the restored town where Robert E. Lee surrendered to Ulysses S. Grant.  The weather was warm and sunny, and the town is beautifully restored, but it is a somber reminder of a horrible war.

This photo is the re-created interior of the slave quarters at the McLean House.
