Natchez, Mississippi
The weather today is subtropical, which is perfectly appropriate for Natchez – a beautiful, little town – a smaller version of New Orleans.
The people here are VERY friendly, more likely to strike up a conversation with you than other places we’ve been. Even the teenagers are likely to say hello when walking by. Tourism is the biggest source of income here, but we’ve been other places that relied on tourism where the locals seemed to resent visitors. Natchez residents seem happy to see you.
Yesterday we arrived with plenty of time to walk along the Bluff Park walkway, high above the Mississippi. Best sight – sunset over the water!
Today we walked around the downtown and old residential areas, and drove over the river to the Frogmore Plantation in Louisiana. This evening we went back out to Bluff Park to watch the sunset.
