Day Two: Lebanon to Tupelo
We left Lebanon on another beautiful morning. This leg of the trip is short, so we had plenty of time to stop and explore.
We didn’t see anything in Nashville, but the suburb Belle Meade southwest of Nashville, was very attractive.
We got on the Natchez Trace at it’s northern end, and drove about a third of it today. We are staying in Tupelo tonight and will continue on to Natchez tomorrow.
The Natchez Trace is a beautiful road – it’s like driving through a park. Today we stopped at several historical sites, including Meriwether Lewis’ grave and Bear Creek Mound, an ancient structure built by native Americans between 1100 and 1300 A.D.
