- Description: This original oil painting is based on a banyan tree that I sketched when I first visited Key West. Using that drawing, I’ve made multiple versions of this image – this one has softer tones than the first one. I used both brushes and painting knives to create an impressionist image. I used soft peach and greens to create a twilight effect. Most of my artwork is inspired by nature and the outdoors. I like to play with the paint, and will often build up texture through several layers of paint. This technique takes time, as each layer has to dry thoroughly before the next, so I can both build up and scratch through the layers to create the complex textures.
