Description: This landscape is based on an area in the Jefferson National Forest in the southern part of Virginia. This original oil painting is an abstracted version of a waterfall in the woods near where we camped many years ago. I had drawn and painted several versions of this landscape. This time I decided that I was done with green. The area receives a lot of rainfall, and the green color dominates everything. This version shows the structure underneath the foliage. In building up the texture, I took off as much paint as I left on, using painting knives and cloth to expose the paint underneath.
